Candidate Biography
Personal Statement |
- I have been a judge in Queens for 23 years, and am committed to providing a fair day in court for all those who appear before me. I was appointed to Criminal Court by Mayor Koch, reappointed by Mayor Guiliani. In 1994 I was elected as a NY State Supreme Court Justice by the citizens of Queens county and have served on both civil and criminal terms. I was found "Highly Qualified" for this office by the NYS Judicial Screening Committees. For more than a decade I have chaired the Queens Courts' Gender Fairness Committee. I provide countywide educational programs on domestic violence, women's history, chair the Take Your Children to Work Day program in the courts, and serve on the board of the Samuel Field Y. Also, I provide an opportunity for students to take part in my judicial internship program every summer in my chambers. Currently, I am the national Vice President of the National Association of Women Judges. I was raised in Queens, attended local public schools, and proudly serve my community.
