Candidate Biography
Personal Statement |
-
In April of this year Governor Paterson nominated me to be the Surrogate’s Court Judge for Orange County. Shortly thereafter, my nomination was confirmed by the New York State Senate and I am presently the Surrogate’s Court Judge. In July of this year I was designated to be an Acting Supreme Court Justice. I feel that my background has prepared me to be the Surrogate’s Court Judge. I have practiced law in Goshen, New York for over 35 years. I began my legal career by serving as a Confidential Law Secretary to the Hon. Edward M. O’Gorman, Supreme Court Justice . I served for over 11 years as the Town Justice of Blooming Grove and for over 9 years as the Acting Village Justice of the Village of Chester. From 1990 to 1994 I was the County Attorney for Orange County. Outside of the practice of law, I have served on my local school board and on the Board of Trustees of the Orange County Community College. I am also a trained Mediator for the Dispute Resolution Center in Orange County. My background, my knowledge of Orange County, my legal experience and my temperament all make me qualified to continue as the Surrogate’s Court Judge of Orange County.
