Candidate Biography
Personal Statement |
- I have been a Monroe Court Judge since June 2000. I spent 2002 in Family Court presiding over the Juvenile Delinquent/PINS court before returning to County Court in 2003. In January 2004 I was appointed Acting Supreme Court Justice and I have presided over the Integrated Domestic Violence (IDV) Court since that time. IDV Court takes misdemeanor and felony level criminal cases as well as matrimonial and family court cases. I have heard thousands of cases involving family violence and my IDV Court was chosen for a statewide study regarding the effects of strict judicial monitoring on recidivism. I am married with two daughters aged 12 and 7, whom my husband and I adopted from China in 1996 and 2002. My community involvement includes former Counselor and Board Member of Camp Good Days and Special Times, former Board Member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Families with Children from China, Italian American Law Enforcement Association, Rochester Women’s Network, Gates-Greece Kiwanis, Italian American Women’s Civic Club, Italian American Community Center, Monroe County Bar Association and Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys. Please see my website for endorsements.
