Candidate Biography
Personal Statement |
- As a practicing attorney in Saratoga Springs for over a decade, Matt has handled virtually every type of case within the City Court’s jurisdiction, including criminal misdemeanors, violations, traffic infractions, civil claims, small claims, city code violations, commercial trucking cases and landlord-tenant matters.
Matt has a general law practice, including criminal defense, family and matrimonial law, litigation, municipal law, estate planning and administration, real estate, and business law. This broad exposure to the law over the past decade has prepared him well to act as Saratoga Springs City Court Judge.
Matt has acted as counsel to the Saratoga County Office for the Aging for seven years, previously handled Juvenile Delinquency and PINS cases for the City of Saratoga Springs, acted as the Examiner of Guardian Accounts for the Appellate Division, and served on the Saratoga County Law Guardian panel for many years. Matt has frequently provided discounted or pro bono services to those in need.
At the time of his law school graduation in 1996, Matt received the Vanderbilt Award for Academic Excellence.
