Personal Statement |
- Judge William E. Sherwood has served with distinction in the New York State Supreme Court for 14 years. He is presently the Senor Resident Justice in Rockland County where he administers about 500 pending civil cases. In addition, Judge Sherwood is frequently given special judicial appointments throughout the Hudson Valley.
He has been called upon to handle cases in Westchester County on a regular basis, and has been assigned to Orange County for several prolonged periods. He has also successfully completed assignments in New York City as well as throughout the five county Ninth Judicial District.
Judge Sherwood is a graduate of Syracuse University and New York Law School and has received advanced training through numerous courses at the Justice Center at Pace Law School and the National Judicial Institute. Prior to his election he was a Town Justice in Stony Point, Town Attorney in Stony Point, Rockland County Assistant District Attorney, Deputy Supervisor in Stony Point and spent nearly 25 years in private practice.
He has been admitted to practice in all state and Federal Courts and is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court.
