- With 28 years judicial experience, fourteen as a Brighton Town Justice and fourteen as a New York State Supreme Court Justice, Justice John J. Ark has presided over tens of thousands of cases, including nearly two dozen homicides, has 15 decisions officially reported, has served on several select judicial committees, including the New York State Commission on Drugs and the Courts and is Chair of the Monroe County Jury Board. For five years Justice Ark served as the Supervising Judge of the Seventh Judicial District Matrimonial Part, where he oversaw the disposition of nearly 10,000 divorces.
In the process of seeking re-election to New York State Supreme Court, Justice Ark is the first Seventh Judicial District Justice to be rated “highly qualified” by the Monroe County Bar Association, “highly qualified” by the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys and “highly qualified” by the Rochester Black Bar Association.
