Personal Statement
  • The Honorable Robert J. Lunn is a graduate of the University of Rochester and Cornell Law School. Justice Lunn served as an Assistant District Attorney for Monroe County in 1976 and 1977 and was in private practice through 1994 when he was first elected to New York State Supreme Court. In 2005 Justice Lunn was appointed by Governor Pataki to the Appellate Division of Supreme Court, our state's second highest appeals court. , Throughout his 14-year term, Justice Lunn has been described as a caring, thoughtful and effective jurist, who has earned high marks by the Bar Association for his knowledge of the law, judicial demeanor and thorough preparation. His decisions have been characterized as well-reasoned and timely. He is the only candidate for Supreme Court rated “highly qualified” by the Monroe County Bar Association, the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys and the Rochester Black Bar Association. Justice Lunn is involved in the community and frequently gives lectures to area bar associations and high schools. He has served on the Boards of multiple charitable organizations.
