Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • My intention to seek another term as a Supreme Court Judge is based on my belief that I have the requisite combination of practical legal experience, judicial service and temperament to continue making a significant contribution to the legal system. I spent 20 years in private practice where I focused on commercial, banking and corporate law. My duties as a Town Justice first exposed me to the considerable personal fulfillment of judicial office. Helping people navigate the judicial system and resolve their cases expeditiously, fairly and with dignity has been my goal ever since. Upon being elected to Supreme Court, I have worked hard every day to ensure fairness and integrity in all cases. Whether conducting a trial between acrimonious parties, negotiating a settlement of a complex matter or reviewing disputes on appeal, I am always prepared, versed in the facts and law and cognizant that real people are affected by how I rule. I am also keenly aware that, for most litigants, the Appellate Division is the last chance of judicial review. I have never authored a decision or voted on a case without being completely satisfied that it is being resolved as required by law, without taint of personal bias or predisposition. I am confident that my varied legal and judicial career make me a worthy candidate for re-election.
