Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • Service on the Supreme Court is an opportunity- beyond any other for a person with my background and experience- to continue my lifelong work of making a positive impact in the everyday lives, well-being and prosperity of people, families, farms and businesses. I have diverse experiences through which I understand our communities and the hardships faced by people throughout the state and region. I will lead reform efforts to realign civil justice with the needs of citizens who rely upon the courts to enforce their rights and obligations and to ensure that justice trumps politics. I will aggressively advocate for substantial and reliable funding for civil legal representation and broader pro-bono service among the bar associations, so that equal justice for all is a reality, not a myth. I plan to remain actively engaged in schools and community to educate the public and promote public confidence about the law and the judicial system. Lawyers and litigants can expect me to give their cases prompt, full and impartial attention, to work hard, and to be fully prepared for every matter before me - and I will expect the same from the lawyers who appear before me.
