Personal Statement
  • In 2010, Rich Ambro served as a Suffolk County Court Judge and presided over three complex felony trials. For most of the past ten years, Rich Ambro served this community as the Principal Law Clerk to Supreme Court Justice C. Randall Hinrichs, District Administrative Judge, Suffolk County. During this time Justice Hinrichs presided over more then sixty-five felony jury trials to verdict, including more the twenty-five homicide trials. Many of these were among the highest profile felony trials in the County. Rich Ambro’s father, the Hon. Jerome A. Ambro, served in the United States House of Representatives from 1975 - 1981, and as Huntington Town Supervisor from 1967-1974. Ambro’s maternal grandfather, the Hon. John H. McCooey, Jr., was a New York State Supreme Court Justice from 1931 -1948. Ambro’s paternal grandfather, Jerome G. Ambro, was a New York State Assemblyman from 1925 -1933.
