Personal Statement
  • I have been a practicing attorney in the area of civil litigation for over twenty-nine years. Currently, I hold the position of a managing partner at my eighteen attorney law firm, Chesney & Murphy located in Baldwin. The Nassau County Bar Association has found me “well qualified” to be a Judge of the Supreme Court. I have also received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest attorney rating which required my peers’ votes. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School with cum laude honors in May of 1975, with a degree in economics and a major in accounting. I passed the CPA Exam in 1980 while at Brooklyn Law School. I served as the Village Justice of Island Park from 1997-2002 until I moved. I am also currently a Deputy Village Attorney and a prosecutor at the Village of Island Park. I am a member of NYS Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association & the NYS Magistrates Association. Additionally, I am a Director of the Catholic League and a member of Legatus (a Catholic business group). I have been married to my wife, the former Lisa D’Amato, for twenty-seven years and we have seven wonderful children ages twelve to twenty-five.
