Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • Since 1984, my family and I have lived in beautiful Upstate New York. For 15 years I was a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon, which taught me to practice patience and understanding in my personal and professional life – traits I’ll take with me to the bench. For 30 years, I’ve represented both sides of disputes and presented cases before the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, and the Court of Appeals, gaining extensive knowledge of our Judicial system. I’m proud that my policy has always been dispute resolution and trial avoidance. As a Judge, I can serve the people who appear before me, their attorneys, and the taxpayers by working towards negotiated settlements. Since jury trials cost New York taxpayers and litigants hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, my success in settling cases will translate into saving taxpayer dollars – without sacrificing anyone’s right to be heard. Decisions should be well thought out, researched, and articulated so each party knows how the law was applied to their case. I’ve handled a wide range of diverse types of legal issues with compassion and fairness which has equipped me with the experience needed to serve as a Supreme Court Justice.
