Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • I am running for Buffalo City Court because I believe that I have the qualifications and work experience to make a positive difference in the lives of the thousands of Buffalonians served by the City Court every year. I have been a lawyer since 1989, and for the majority of my career I have practiced in Buffalo City Court. I have chosen to run for City Court judge this year because I intend to volunteer to serve as Housing Court judge, and to volunteer to serve there for the entire ten year term, if the Chief Judge permits me to do so. I feel that it is critically important to have continuity in the Housing Court. Only by having one judge stay on for several consecutive years can we effectively monitor the progress of the various programs and enforcement mechanisms we implement. I have been rated “Highly Qualified” by the Western New York Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of New York, “Qualified” by the Minority Bar Association, and “Qualified” by the Erie County Bar Association. I have been endorsed by Local 264, AFSCME, as well as the Ironworkers’ Union and the City of Buffalo Building Inspectors’ Union. I am an endorsed candidate of the Working Families Party.
