Personal Statement
  • Judge Gary F. Knobel is seeking re-election to the Nassau County District Court bench and is the candidate of four political parties. Judge Knobel has once again been found to be "well qualified" for District Court by the bi-partisan Judiciary Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. This past January, in addition to his assignments to criminal and civil parts in District Court, Judge Knobel designated an Acting County Court Judge to preside over psychiatric retention and treatment hearings in hospitals throughout Nassau County, and outpatient treatment hearings conducted in Supreme Court. Judge Knobel is an Adjunct Professor at Hofstra University School of Law, teaching New York Civil Practice for the past nine years. His teaching ability and knowledge of Civil Procedure was recognized by the Judicial Institute, the legal education arm of the Office of Court Administration, which asked him to lecture to newly elected judges.
