Personal Statement
  • Gerard E. Maney, Acting Supreme Court Justice, Supervising Judge of the Family Courts in the Third Judicial District, and Albany County Family Court Judge, was born in Albany, New York. He has served as Family Court Judge since 1991 and was appointed Supervising Judge in 2002. In 2002, Judge Maney established the Albany County Family Treatment Court and in 2006 he started a Juvenile Drug Court. Judge Maney is past president of the Albany County Bar Association. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the NYS Family Court Judges Association and is a member of Albany Law School’s Government Law Center Advisory Board. Judge Maney is a past member of Siena College’s Associate Board of Trustees and is currently Chairman of the Distinguished Jurist in Residence Pre-Law Program. He is the recipient of the Anthony V. Cardona Bridge Builders Award (2006), Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York Equal Justice for All Award (1995).
