Personal Statement
  • Frederick G. Reed has served as the Ontario County Surrogate Court Judge since his election in 2001. Now completing his first term, Judge Reed has presided over matters involving wills, estates, trusts, adoptions and guardianships. In addition to these duties in Surrogate’s Court, Judge Reed has also served in Family Court, County Court, Supreme Court, Domestic Violence Court, and felony Drug Treatment Court. Judge Reed attended public school in Canandaigua and Naples. He graduated with honors from SUNY Geneseo, where he completed his degree requirements in three years. He graduated from SUNY Buffalo Law School where he participated in the law school’s Moot Court team. Before his election to Surrogate’s Court, Judge Reed served on the Canandaigua City Council for ten years, during which time he chaired the Ordinance Committee and served as President of City Council. A life-long resident of Ontario County, Judge Reed is grateful to serve in one of New York State’s fastest-growing counties. This election day, you will find Judge Reed on the Republican and Conservative Party lines.
