Personal Statement
  • Mark L. Powers is Schenectady County Family Court judge, having been elected in November of 2001 to a ten year term. He seeks reelection. He has a BA degree from the State University at Albany; a JD Degree form Western New England University; and a LLM from Albany Law School (summa cum laude). He is an adjunct professor of law at Western New England University, and has been a guest lecturer at Albany Law School and Union College. He was recently published in The New York Law Journal on child neglect proceedings. He has been a frequent lecturer for the New York State Bar Association on continuing legal education. He is married to Marcia S. Powers; they have been married for thirty two years with two children. His son, Ryan, is a sergeant in the US Marine Corps having recently returned from deployment in Afghanistan; and his daughter, Sarah, currently works as an Enrollment Specialist for an insurance agency in Albany, New York.
