Personal Statement
  • Elected in 2001 as Family Court Judge in Erie County, handling cases of Child Abuse, Negelct, Domestic Violence, Juvenile Delinquency, Custody and Child Support Enforcement. Judge Maxwell is currently the President Elect of the New York State Family Court Judges Association, member of the NYS State and Tribal Court Forum, member of NYSUT and Adjunct Faculty member at Erie Community College and member of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. Served as the Lead Judge of the Erie County Permanency Court for seven years, overseeing programs of improvement in the handling of foster care cases and system wide changes through out Erie County and New York State. As a member of the State Tribal Court Forum, Judge Maxwell has facilitated the recognition of Tribal Court Orders of Protection by seeing they are now included on State wide Domestic Violence Registries.
