Personal Statement
  • Judge Carl F. Becker started practicing law in Delaware County in 1974 and was elected Delaware County Judge in 2002, where he serves as the only County Court, Family Court and Surrogate Court Judge. Now, as well as prior to his election, Judge Becker has sought to protect the interests of children and promote healthy families. In 2004 Judge Becker organized Delaware County's first Drug Treatment Court for non-violent felony offenders. The following year Judge Becker established Delaware County's first Family Treatment Court. In 2011 Judge Becker became the first Delaware County Judge to be simultaneously designated an Acting Supreme Court Justice in more than 40 years. Judge Becker served as President of the Delaware County Bar Association and the Lawyer's Section of the New York Public Welfare Association. He has delivered clinical legal education lectures for the American Bar Association, New York Public Welfare Association, Albany Law School, and the Delaware County Bar Association. A graduate of Clarkson College and Albany Law School, Judge Becker has been happily married to his wife, Christine for 38 years and together they have 2 children and one grandchild.
