Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • Currently, I am a Schenectady County Family Court Judge and an Acting Supreme Court Justice. My background differs from most other lawyers which gives me a greater understanding of people. After completing high school, I did not go directly to college. I attended the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center for their dance certificate program. I had begun dancing at age 3 and studied at various schools including the School of American Ballet, the school for the New York City Ballet. At age 21, I went to college at Columbia University, School of General Studies. After graduation, I attended Albany Law School and graduated with honors. I am married and have 2 daughters, ages 9 and 5. I am similar to any other working mother who has to balance work and family life. However, I am fortunate because I have resources that so many people that I see in Court do not have. I try to remember that as I sit as a judge in Schenectady County Family Court where I see families that are struggling. I treat everyone who appears before me with the respect, compassion and dignity. I have varied experiences both personal and professional that would make me a good Supreme Court Justice.
