Personal Statement
  • Stevens received her Juris Doctorate from St. John’s in 1996. For 16 years she specialized in Family and Criminal Law. She worked part time at Legal Aid representing clients in education law. For the last 8 years she represented children in matters of abuse/neglect; adoption; paternity; JD/PINS and custody/ visitation.She has years of experience litigating in front of multiple judges in several counties. She is known for her independence.She graduated from Eastern University, attended the University of London/Richmond College and graduate school at the College of William and Mary. She has 20 years experience working in Human Services as a Probation Officer, a supervisor for high risk children and their families, a manager for the NYS Division for Youth and as a Director of SHARE, the first child sexual abuse treatment program in Chemung County. She served on the Boards of Directors of the Southern Tier AIDS Program; the Valley United Red Cross; Tioga County Historical Society and Museum and the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center of Bradford County. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years; hosted 3 exchange students and was a foster parent. She continues to volunteer for dog rescue.
