Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • Thomas Buchanan is running on the Conservative and Republican lines for Supreme Court. Tom maintains a conservative judicial philosophy, firmly believing that it is the judge's role to interpret and apply the law, not to make it. Tom graduated from Albany Law School near the top of his class, magna cum laude, in 1998. Since that time he has been practicing law with a top Capital Region law firm. Throughout his career, Tom has represented wide range of clients, involving a wide range of cases; from small business owners, to individuals, and the disabled. Tom has practiced throughout the fourth judicial district, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. One hundred percent of his practice is in the Supreme Court. He has also briefed and argued over two dozen cases in the appellate courts. Tom worked his way through law school while raising three children - TJ, Timothy, and Meghan. Tom will strive to ensure that his decisions are fair and impartial, recognizing the impact those decisions may have on the every day lives of the litigants.
