Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • I am currently a Schenectady County Family Court Judge, having first been elected in 2001 and re-elected in 2011. I have also served as a full-time Acting Supreme Court Justice since 2004. I have presided over a diverse caseload including matrimonial matters, negligence claims, medical malpractice cases, property damage matters, guardianship of person and property and contract claims, among others. In addition, I was the Integrated Domestic Violence Court Judge in Schenectady and Essex Counties. I am a 1973 graduate of Shenendehowa High School and graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. I attended the Graduate School of Public Affairs, serving as a teaching assistant. Thereafter, I graduated from Western New England School of Law with a Juris Doctorate and, more recently, a Master’s Degree (LLM) from Albany Law School, summa cum laude. I am presently an Adjunct Professor at Western New England School of Law. I also guest lecture at Albany Law School and Union College. In addition to my responsibilites as a judge and professor, I teach continuing legal education programs offered through the New York State Bar Association.
