Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • I am 57 years old and a lifelong resident of Waverly. My wife Betty and I have two sons. After law school I returned to Waverly where I have been a trial lawyer for 31 years. I worked as a public defender for almost 5 years. I have 19 years of experience in private practice helping families and children in Family Court and Surrogate's Court. I have worked in the D.A.'s office for 27 years. In 1999 I was elected District Attorney and I have been re-elected three times, serving for a total of 13 years. I am running for judge because I care very much about the justice system in Tioga County. I have been a part of that system for the past 31 years. The county should have a judge who is experienced in the law and familiar with the tools available to help people who come to the court with their problems. I like helping people solve their problems. Working with clients and children in Family Court for 19 years in private practice was a rewarding experience. Helping crime victims obtain justice and holding criminals accountable for their conduct is important to me. I am fully familiar with the rules of evidence, the laws that apply in the court and the resources available to the court.
