Personal Statement
  • Judge Andrea Phoenix has served as a Nassau County District Court Judge in the Second District since 2007 and is the presiding judge of the Nassau County Mental Health Court. In this capacity, she adjudicates both misdemeanor and felony cases involving mentally challenged defendants. Additionally, she presides over a civil part involving trials, conferences and motions. Judge Phoenix is an appointed member of the New York State Unified Court System Family Violence Task Force. She is the president of the New York Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Judge Phoenix also serves on the WE CARE Advisory Board of the Nassau County Bar Association, the Executive Committee of the Theodore Roosevelt Inn of Court and the Nassau County Judicial Committee on Women in the Courts. Judge Phoenix devotes much of her time to community service and mentoring. Prior to taking the bench, she was an attorney in private practice. Judge Phoenix earned a law degree from Hofstra University School of Law where she was editor-in-chief of the Environmental Law Digest. Judge Phoenix was found well-qualified by the Nassau County Bar Association to run for re-election.
