Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • I am a Bronx native born to hardworking Puerto Rican parents and raised in the Morrisania Projects where I attended St. Augustine School along with my 10 brothers and sisters. I attended Cardinal Spellman High School on a partial scholarship and upon graduation was accepted to Fordham University, Rose Hill Campus also in the Bronx. I ventured out of my native borough to Flushing, Queens to attend CUNY Law School and obtained my Juris Doctorate and was admitted to practice law in New York State. Like many Bronxites, my family and I have struggled to achieve our goals while contributing to better our borough. I decide to remain in the Bronx and in 2005 I was elected by voters like you to the Civil Court Bench where I strive to serve the residents of the Bronx in a fair and impartial manner while being sensitive to the plight of the citizens of the Bronx. I am hopeful that I will be given the opportunity to continue to serve the Bronx by becoming the First Female Latina to hold this prestigious position. My experience on the Bench which includes presiding over Civil Court, Family Court, Criminal Court and Supreme Court cases has prepared me to be the next Surrogate Court Justice.
