Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • My career goal is to be a judge and to follow in the footsteps of my father, who retired from the bench in 1994, after twenty-five years of service. I served as an assistant district attorney in Suffolk County from 1978 to 1987. During that time I tried numerous felony and misdemeanor cases; prepared written appeals and orally argued those cases in both the state and federal courts. In 1987, I entered private practice and continued practicing law until November 1995. I was then a principal law clerk to a County Court Judge for almost 12 years. My responsibilities included conferencing cases with the attorneys and writing all decisions on motions and many decisions after hearings. A number of the decisions that I authored have been published. I now work for the Supervising Judge and handle administrative issues. I am admitted to practice in New York State as well as the U.S.District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts, and the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, 2d Circuit. My husband and I reside in Westbury. We are volunteers for Island Harvest. I am currently the president of the Courthouse Kiwanis and a distinguished past president of that organization.
