Candidate Biography
Personal Statement
  • The 2007 Independent Judicial Election Qualifications Commissions for the First Judicial District found me "Qualified" to serve as a Supreme Court Justice. As of this date, I am awaiting an interview with the NYC Bar Association. I currently sit in the Supreme Court, Civil Term, having been designated an Acting Supreme Court Justice by the Chief Administrative Judge on 1/1/04. I was first elected a judge of the Civil Court of the City of New York in 11/96 and was re-elected to that position in 11/06. I have also been assigned to sit in the Criminal Court of the City of New York. During my 2006 campaign for re-election to the Civil Court, I was rated "Approved" by the NYC Bar Association, "Highly Approved" by the Lesbian and Gay Law Association, and "Highly Approved" by the New York Women's Bar Association. Prior to my judicial service, I worked as a Court Attorney to a Supreme Court Justice for seven and 1/2 years. I began my legal career as an attorney for the Legal Aid Society representing indigent defendants first in Nassau County and then in New York County (Manhattan). If elected, I look forward to a continued career in public service.
